Key Tosses 1-0 Shutout
|
The Knoxville Blue Jays did little to support starter Jimmy Key against the Savannah Indians, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Indians, striking out 7 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Key allowed Knoxville to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Jimmy, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Key told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
Thus far this season Key has posted a 6-3 record, started 11 games, struck out 69 batters in 84.1 innings and compiled a 3.09 ERA.
