Yankees Win, 3-2, at California
|
New York and California duked it out and the Yankees came out victorious.
The New York Yankees picked up a win at Angel Stadium 1979, knocking off the California Angels, 3-2. Starting pitcher Mike Parrott was a big reason why. Parrott, now 3-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for George Kaage, the 26-year old first baseman . Kaage contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put New York up, 3-2.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Kaage told the New York Gazette.
The loss has the Angels at 22-11.
