|
The Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-1. Texas pitcher and Hertford, North Carolina, native Catfish Hunter led the way. The defeat makes Toronto 12-21.
Steve Garvey, who finished 4th in the NL in slugging percentage with .489 in 1976, contributed to the Texas win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
