White Sox Edge Past Brewers, 5-4
|
Chicago picked up a win at Comiskey Park 1969, toppling the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-4. Pitcher John Candelaria was one of the reasons the White Sox triumphed. Chicago reliever Win Remmerswaal picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Carlos Martinez absorbed the loss. The White Sox, at 18-15, have now won 4 straight.
Had Tim Teufel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Teufel hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the White Sox.
Candelaria told the Chicago Times: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
