Yankees Snatch Late Win
|
The New York Yankees bested the Oakland Athletics, 4-1, at Oakland Coliseum 1969. Mario Cabrera was one of the standouts. He was 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Camilo Aprgio. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 4 innings. He now owns a record of 1-2. With the win, New York raised its record to 21-15.
In the top of the eighth, the Yankees grabbed the lead when Cabrera hit his 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run off Bob Falcon made it 4-1, New York.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Cabrera told the New York Gazette.
