White Sox Stop Rangers, 9-5
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox get after it.
Behind a fine performance from Steve Henderson, the Chicago White Sox knocked off the Texas Rangers, 9-5. Henderson was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the White Sox. Chicago raised its record to 20-16 with the win.
Ryan MacFarland, who finished 2nd in the AL in batting average with .326 in 1976, aided the Chicago cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the third baseman was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Henderson expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
