Spiders Win, 7-2, at Chicago
|
Cleveland pitcher Richard Stumpp did his part in helping his team beat the Chicago White Sox, 7-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Stumpp went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-1. With the win, Cleveland upped its record to 21-18.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jesse Barfield? The Cleveland center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Spiders on top, 2-0. For the game, Barfield had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Stumpp told the Cleveland Observer.
