The Houston Astros and New York Mets provided some drama for the home crowd.

The New York Mets downed the Houston Astros, 5-4, at Astrodome 1965. Bill Almon led the way, going 4-for-5 for New York. Picking up the win was Elias Sosa. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 3.

John Kruk, the top prospect , had a direct impact on the outcome. Kruk contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put New York up, 2-1.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Kruk said.

At 21-22, the Mets find themselves in 4th place in the National League East Division.
