Big Day with Bat: Rowe 5-for-7
Miami third baseman Butch Rowe added his name to the record books with a 5-hit spree at Miami Stadium today, but found his special moment spoiled when the St. Petersburg Saints took a shootout win over the Whales.

"I would have much preferred getting only a couple of hits and winning the game," he confessed to reporters afterward. "It's hard to go back into the clubhouse and celebrate a 5-hit game when you also lost."

Whales skipper called Rowe's game "a once-in-a-lifetime moment."

"It's a shame the guy can't really enjoy it," he said. "It's also a shame what happened with our pitching today, but at least that we can try to fix."

Butch Rowe doubled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, grounded out in the 9th, struck out in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
