Red Sox Need Extra Frames to Get Past Athletics
|
Danny Darwin pitched well, but the Oakland Athletics still lost the game, falling 4-2 to the Boston Red Sox at Oakland Coliseum 1969. The Red Sox have an impressive 34-15 record.
Nelson Norman, the slick-fielding shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Norman contributed a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put Boston up, 4-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Boston manager Jeff Blim. "It's usually not just one thing."
