Braves Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Mets
|
The Atlanta Braves got a strong performance from pitcher Gary Carter, who stymied the New York offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Shea Stadium 1979. Carter, now 3-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The 5th-place Mets have lost 5 straight games.
Mike Scioscia, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Scioscia contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Atlanta up, 2-0.
