Astros Topple Expos with Late Rally
Both teams had their chances, but the Houston Astros eventually prevailed.

Frank Tanana could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Montreal Expos lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Houston Astros at Olympic Stadium. Houston pitcher Luis Aponte got the win, upping his record to 2-3. Frank Tanana got the loss. Mike Caldwell collected save number 1.

Houston used the timely hitting of Ricky Adams to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Astros on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Adams told a Houston News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The 5th-place Astros improved to 21-30.
