Red Sox Hurler Kollmyer Tosses Masterpiece
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Kenneth Kollmyer of the Boston Red Sox proved the point at Angel Stadium 1979 today, holding the California Angels to 1 hit in a complete game shutout victory.

"Kollmyer made us look real bad today," Angels manager Zim Padres said in his postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Kollmyer had 5 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Red Sox took the 7-0 win.

To date this year, Kollmyer shows a 4-2 record, 2 starts, 34.1 innings, 31 strikeouts and a 3.41 ERA.
