Meyer Jacks Two Home Runs in 11-6 Montreal Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Montreal Expos and Atlanta Braves.
Timnothy Meyer was a major factor in the 11-6 Montreal win over Atlanta. The Expos second baseman went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Montreal reliever Bob Ojeda was the winner. His record is now 5-2. The losing pitcher was Wilbur Wood.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Dale Murphy? The Montreal first baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Expos on top, 7-6. For the game, Murphy had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Murphy told the Montreal Daily.
With the win, Montreal pushed its record to 30-22.
