Abrego Fires Shutout in Kinston Victory
|
It wasn't easy but the Kinston Eagles made it look that way.
Starter Johnny Abrego shut out the Burlington Senators despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Kinston Eagles cruised to victory, 6-0. Abrego allowed only 2 hits and rang up 9 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This season Abrego has a 5-3 record with a 2.64 ERA in 11 starts.
