Hall Lifts Yankees to 5-3 Triumph
|
A 4-RBI performance from David Hall, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in triples with 3, helped the New York Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals, 5-3. Blake Green, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-3. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 3. Picking up the save was Jeff Cornell, his 1st.
Hall came through for the Yankees in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New York leading 2-1, the left fielder hit a bases-clearing triple. It made the score 5-1, New York.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hall told the New York Gazette.
With the win, New York raised its record to 31-23.
