The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Olympic Stadium, knocking off the Montreal Expos, 5-3. Starting pitcher Ken Holtzman played a key role in the triumph. Larry Andersen locked down his 10th save. The triumph puts St. Louis at 29-26 for the season.
The Cardinals had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 5-3, St. Louis, with one out. Montreal, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Guonçalo Fernandes dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 slider, he grounded out.
