Pirates Dealt 4-2 Loss by New York
|
New York picked up a win at Shea Stadium 1979, toppling the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-2. Pitcher Enrique Martinez was one of the reasons the Mets triumphed. Martinez got the win, improving to 3-4. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. Martinez allowed 2 runs. Matt Adams converted his 8th save in 13 tries.
In the bottom of the first, Lyman Bostock hit a 2-run home run. The 2nd home run of the season for the New York right fielder put the Mets on top, 2-0.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Bostock.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Mets.
