Cardinals Hurler Holton Tosses Masterpiece
|
Brian Holton shut out the Danville Veterans 4-0 on a 3-hit masterpiece for the Cedar Rapids Cardinals at Veterans Memorial Stadium today.
"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Cedar Rapids skipper said afterward.
Holton registered 4 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in pitching a gem.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Danville manager after the defeat.
On the season Holton has compiled a 4-5 mark with a 4.43 ERA in 10 starts. In pitching 69 innings he has 39 strikeouts and 20 walks while limiting the opposition to a .270 batting average.
