California Makes It 7 Straight with 5-2 Win
|
The California Angels topped the Seattle Mariners, 5-2, in American League action at Angel Stadium 1979. The game was highlighted by the performance of California pitcher Clay Kirby. California reliever Tug McGraw picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Nick Bowditch absorbed the loss. Seattle drops to 4-4.
California won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Nick Bowditch on the mound for Seattle, first baseman Jason D Thompson hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Angels fans to their feet.
