Braves Drop Giants, 4-1
|
Atlanta picked up a win at Candlestick Park 1993, bumping off the San Francisco Giants, 4-1. Pitcher Randy Lerch was a major reason the Braves emerged victorious. With the win, Atlanta upped its record to 32-29.
It could have been a different outcome for Atlanta, had it not been for Karl Pagel, the 1977 Rookie of the Year Award winner . Pagel contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Atlanta up, 2-1.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Lerch. "Successful pitchers do it."
