Dominant Performance by Matlack in Philadelphia Win
|
Jon Matlack was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Philadelphia and Chicago. The Phillies left-hander helped his team beat the Cubs, 1-0. The Phillies bumped their record to 34-29 with this win.
Matlack earned the win, going 8.2 strong innings for Philadelphia. The left-hander allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 7. Chicago hitters had little success against him.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Jeff Griggs.
