Win Makes Cincinnati 36-27
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Scott, but the Cincinnati Reds still won the game, 4-2. Scott threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. With the win, Cincinnati upped its record to 36-27.
In the bottom of the eighth, Cincinnati first baseman Darrell Evans gave his team the lead. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Howdy Doody hit his 1st triple of the year. Los Angeles pitcher Steve Foucault surrendered it. With that, the Reds jumped in front, 3-2.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Evans. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
