Expos Win, 5-3, at Chicago
|
Montreal and Chicago duked it out and the Expos came out victorious.
Montreal starter Frank Tanana had a strong outing against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field 1979. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Tanana, now 4-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 7, and allowing 3 runs. Rollie Fingers, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities.
Garry Templeton hit a 2-run double off Ray Burris in the top of the fifth, which put the Expos in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Templeton had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Templeton told the Montreal Daily.
With the win, Montreal upped its record to 36-29.
