Spiders Prevail, 4-2, Over Baltimore
|
The Cleveland Spiders topped the Baltimore Orioles, 4-2, in American League action at Cleveland Stadium 1980. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cleveland pitcher Richard Stumpp. Stumpp, now 6-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. The 4th-place Spiders now have a win-loss record of 35-36.
Randy Elliott had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh for Cleveland. He came through with a 2-run single to put Cleveland in front, 4-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Stumpp told the Cleveland Observer.
