Corbin, White Sox Shut Out Twins, 2-0
|
It wasn't easy but Ray Corbin made it look that way.
Corbin silenced the Minnesota Twins, 2-0, in a Chicago White Sox triumph at Comiskey Park 1969 today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Corbin said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 4 walks and 5 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
Corbin has made 14 starts so far this year and put up a 6-4 won-lost record with a 3.81 ERA. In 101.2 innings he has allowed 99 hits, walked 35 and struck out 44.
