Yankees Earn 3-2 Win Versus Spiders
The New York Yankees racked up a win at Yankee Stadium 1976, bumping off the Cleveland Spiders, 3-2. Steve Shields, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. The win gives New York a season record of 39-34.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when New York left fielder David Hall, facing Joe Beckwith, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Yankees the 3-2 win.

"I felt we were ready to go," said New York manager Corey Cashen. "Our pregame was pretty good."
