Braves Lose By a Run at San Francisco, 4-3
|
The San Francisco Giants weathered a fine game by Atlanta center fielder Bobby Murcer to upend the Braves, 4-3, at Candlestick Park 1993. Murcer was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Dave Ford, credited with the win, is now 5-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. The Giants are now 72-85, while the Braves fall to 78-79.
Keith Hernandez drove in one run for San Francisco. The fan favorite had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Charlie Lea. It was his 73rd RBI of the season.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Atlanta manager Cary Rosen. "But we decided not to take it."
