|
St. Louis beat Pittsburgh in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The St. Louis Cardinals stopped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-2, at Three Rivers Stadium 1975. The Cardinals got a big game from Jim Gantner, who was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 times. With the victory, the Cardinals upped their record to 85-75.
Bob Watson, who finished 5th in the NL in doubles with 33 in 1973, contributed to the St. Louis win with a 3-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
Said losing manager Eddie Komrska: "Give the Cardinals credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
