Pirates Mathematically Out of Playoffs
Monday, September 6th, 1982
It's back to the drawing board for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The club's efforts at building a championship contender fell short this year, as the team was officially eliminated from playoff contention today.
The Pirates have missed the playoffs 91 times in their 100 years as a X Factor Baseball League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 11th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1970. Pittsburgh last won the World Series in 1970.
