Razor-Sharp Lucas Blanks New York
Saturday, September 18th, 1982
Gary Lucas of Milwaukee easily handled the New York Yankees, stopping them on 6 hits and chucking a complete-game 4-0 shutout.
"He really did a job on us," said New York manager Corey Cashen. "He had good command of his pitches. He changed speeds well and confused us. We never could zero in on him, but he certainly zeroed in on us."
He finished the game with 4 strikeouts and no walks in a solid outing.
This season Lucas has fanned 141 in 257.1 innings and collected a 13-13 record with a 3.04 ERA.
