Big Bat Pays Off, Edwards Player of the Week Monday, September 27th, 1982 At the age of 29, Randy Edwards might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Minnesota first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .522 batting average. For his efforts Edwards collected the American League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 12 hits in 23 at-bats, 3 home runs and 9 RBIs last week in 6 games. This year Edwards has socked 148 hits in 516 at-bats for a .287 average with 31 home runs. He is getting on base at a .348 pace and his totals also include 104 RBIs and 85 runs scored. |
