Steen Spins 5-0 Shutout Tuesday, September 28th, 1982 It wasn't easy but Michael Steen made it look that way. Steen silenced the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-0, in a Montreal Expos triumph at Olympic Stadium today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Steen said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 3 walks and 3 hits. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else." For the year Steen has no relief appearances and a 19-7 record with no saves. He has logged 264.2 innings and allowed 184 base hits. Opposing clubs have put up a .195 batting average against him. Steen has rung up 244 strikeouts, surrendered 56 walks and fashioned a 2.28 ERA.
