NL Announces September's Best Starter
Friday, October 1st, 1982
Whether Ken Holtzman stays in St. Louis beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In September the 36-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the National League Pitcher of the Month award.
He put up some fancy numbers with a 5-0 record and an ERA of 1.68. In 48.1 innings he struck out 21, surrendered 34 hits, 8 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 6 starts last month.
Thus far this season Holtzman has posted a 12-11 record, started 32 games, struck out 101 batters in 219.1 innings and compiled a 4.35 ERA.
