Young Pitches 2-0 Shutout
Thursday, August 26th, 1982
In an outstanding mound performance, Iowa Oaks starter Matt Young fired a complete-game shutout against the Wichita Aeros at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium today.

Young was the key to the Oaks's 2-0 win. The 24-year-old left-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 4 hits and 2 walks he allowed.

"4 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."

In 26 starts this season, Young has recorded 8 wins and absorbed 16 losses. He has pitched 194.2 innings, allowed 176 hits, struck out 97 and has a 3.79 ERA.
