AA Names Player of the Week Monday, August 30th, 1982 Dwight Gooden drew on his youthful energy and pitching skill to win American Association Player of the Week honors last week. The Iowa Oaks pitcher registered 2 wins and no losses, 0.00 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 18 innings to sew up the award. The 17-year-old also held opposing hitters to 5 hits and a .086 batting average. To date this year, Gooden shows a 8-16 record, 27 starts, 197.1 innings, 172 strikeouts and a 3.92 ERA. |
