Mickey Tettleton took American Association by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 22.

For his spectacular campaign, the Evansville Triplets star has been named the 1982 American Association Most Valuable Player Award recipient.

"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the catcher.

On the season he compiled a .257 batting average to go with a .392 on-base percentage. The native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma also added 20 doubles, no triples, 22 home runs, 74 RBIs and 66 runs scored.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Ron Kittle of the Evansville Triplets finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Don Money of the Omaha Storm Chasers finished third.
