Pitcher Wins Week's #1 Player Trophy Monday, August 16th, 1982 Sal Velazquez drew on his youthful energy and pitching skill to win International League Player of the Week honors last week. The Louisville Stallions pitcher registered 2 wins and no losses, 0.53 ERA and 6 strikeouts in 17 innings to sew up the award. The 23-year-old also held opposing hitters to 11 hits and a .190 batting average. This season Velazquez has fanned 93 in 153.1 innings and collected a 10-5 record with a 2.23 ERA. |
