Banks Leads Columbus to 4-0 Win Over Tidewater
Wednesday, August 25th, 1982
In an outstanding mound performance, Columbus Jets starter Darryl Banks fired a complete-game shutout against the Tidewater Tides at Jets Stadium today.
Banks was the key to the Jets's 4-0 win. The 22-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 2 hits and no walks he allowed.
"2 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
Thus far this season, Banks has worked 179.2 innings with 165 strikeouts en route to a 6-16 record and a 4.21 ERA.
