Crews Fires Shutout in Suns Victory
Sunday, August 29th, 1982
In an outstanding mound performance, Jacksonville Suns starter Tim Crews fired a complete-game shutout against the Columbus Skeeters at Wolfson Park today.
Crews was the key to the Suns's 1-0 win. The 21-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 3 hits and no walks he allowed.
"3 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
For the season Crews has logged 16 wins and 10 losses and struck out 151 batters in 231 innings while compiling a 2.84 ERA.
