Lyons Belts 3 HRs Tuesday, August 31st, 1982 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Mobile Bears today. Charlotte catcher Barry Lyons tripled up on the home runs to propel the Hornets to the 14-5 win at Clark Griffith Park. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Mobile manager said. "Lyons hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Lyons collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 5 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Barry Lyons hit a two-run home run off Antonio Morales in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Antonio Morales in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Randy Ramirez in the 7th. To date, Lyons has collected 83 hits for a .252 average. He has posted 17 home runs, scored 40 runs and driven in 62 runs. |
