Week's Top Player: Charlotte's Lyons
Monday, September 6th, 1982
It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Southern League, but last week Barry Lyons of the Charlotte Hornets reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Lyons rocked opposing pitching for a .381 average (8-for-21), 3 home runs and 6 RBIs to come away with the award.
Lyons is batting at a .253 pace this season, picking up 88 hits in 348 at-bats with 17 home runs, 63 RBIs and 41 runs scored.
