Week's Top Performer Honored by TL Monday, August 9th, 1982 It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Texas League, but last week Alfonso Gomez of the Shreveport Braves reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Gomez rocked opposing pitching for a .385 average (10-for-26), 2 home runs and 7 RBIs to come away with the award. This season Gomez has hit at a .284 clip with 43 RBIs, 11 home runs and 35 runs scored. |
