TL Player of the Week Named Monday, August 23rd, 1982 Andy Van Slyke burst onto the Texas League stage in a big way last week. This promising rookie left fielder for El Paso garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy. The 21-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .467 (14-for-30) with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs last week. For the year Van Slyke has hit .310 with 21 home runs, 74 RBIs and scored 102 runs. |
