Barclay Thwarts Stockton, 1-0
Wednesday, July 28th, 1982
The Bakersfield Bears did little to support starter Bradley Barclay against the Stockton Ports, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Ports, striking out 2 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Barclay allowed Bakersfield to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Bradley, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Barclay told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
For the season Barclay has logged 5 wins and 8 losses and struck out 32 batters in 98.2 innings while compiling a 3.19 ERA.
