San Jose Shut Out by Garcia
Thursday, August 5th, 1982
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Greg Garcia of the Stockton Ports proved the point at Billy Hebert Field today, holding the San Jose Bees to 8 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Garcia made us look real bad today," Bees manager said in his postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Garcia had 7 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk as the Ports took the 5-0 win.
This season Garcia has registered 8 wins and 5 losses in 17 starts with a 3.96 ERA.
