California League Names Cawthon Best Batter

23-year-old David Cawthon made a few Stockton headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and California League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 10 hits in 20 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Cawthon collected 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 5 runs.
So far this year Cawthon has 27 home runs and a .271 batting average.
