Cawthon Takes Best Bat Trophy in August Wednesday, September 1st, 1982 David Cawthon put together a good August to earn the California League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Stockton officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Mariners first baseman posted a .333 batting average with 10 home runs, 42 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Hitting .275 to date, Cawthon has 31 home runs and 110 RBIs. He has played in 107 games. |
