1982 Top Player Honored By CLL Monday, September 13th, 1982 Carmelo Martinez of the Lodi Crushers had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 1982.
The 22-year-old third baseman put up a .315 average and a .419 on-base percentage, piling up 129 hits, 30 doubles, no triples, 19 home runs, 89 RBIs and 70 runs scored.
He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 9. Mike Hocutt of the Reno Silver Sox finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while John Bohnet of the Reno Silver Sox finished third with 1 first place vote.
