St. Petersburg's Haight to Miss Season
Tuesday, July 20th, 1982
St. Petersburg reliever James Haight could miss the remainder of the season because of a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. He exited yesterday's Cocoa game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Haight would be out 12 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
Thus far this season Haight has compiled a 1-2 record, made 47 relief appearances with 1 save, hurling 57.1 innings and striking out 25. He has held the opposition to a .279 batting average with a 5.02 ERA.
